About Us
Founded in the fall of 1987, Tufts University’s Traveling Treasure Trunk has always been a unique blend of theatre performance and community service. As Tufts’ only children’s entertainment troupe, Trunk takes tremendous pride in the quality of its performances.
Each semester, members of Trunk (”Trunkers”) write or adapt, direct, costume, and prodce their own plays (in addition to an ever-growing line up of skits and songs) to be performed at Boston-area schools, hospitals, libraries, and day-care centers. Each Trunk show has five troupe members in it, allowing for the group to perform for as many elementary-aged children as possible each semester. Performances are free of charge, though donations are happily accepted, collected, and given to a local child-orientated charity, chosen at the start of each year.
The troupe holds auditions at the start of the Fall and Spring semesters and also puts on an on-campus show just before Tufts lets out for the Winter and Summer breaks.
Trunk is proudly sponsored by Tufts’ community service group, the Leonard Carmichael Society, and by Pen, Paint and Pretzels, the student theatre organization.
